The Impact Of The New Federal Rules
Of Civil Procedure On Electronic Discovery
Industry Resources
The
Federal Rules Of Civil Procedure (Cornell University Legal
Information Institute):
These rules govern the procedure in
the United States district courts in all suits of a civil nature
whether cognizable as cases at law or in equity or in admiralty,
with the exceptions stated in Rule 81. They shall be construed and
administered to secure the just, speedy, and inexpensive
determination of every action.
The Electronic
Discovery Reference Model Project (EDRM): Launched in
May 2005, the Electronic
Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) Project was created to
address the lack of standards and guidelines in the electronic
discovery market – a problem identified in the 2003 and 2004
Socha-Gelbmann Electronic Discovery surveys as a major concern for
vendors and consumers alike.
The completed reference model provides a common, flexible and
extensible framework for the development, selection, evaluation
and use of electronic discovery products and services. The
completed model was placed in the public domain in May 2006.
The Sedona
Conference: The
Sedona Conference exists to allow leading jurists, lawyers,
experts, academics and others, at the cutting edge of issues in
the area of antitrust law, complex litigation, and intellectual
property rights, to come together - in conferences and mini-think
tanks (Working Groups) - and engage in true dialogue, not debate,
all in an effort to move the law forward in a reasoned and just
way.
